VANCOUVER - After attending the screening of the St. Kilda Tapes at the Caprice on Granville Street, Colleen and I dropped into Johnnie Fox's Irish Snug for a late-night snack.

For a Thursday night, the popular establishment was doing a brisk business with plates of food and dark creamy pints being rushed to thirsty customers. Johnnie Fox's is also a popular hangout for members of the Irish Sports and Social club, since the pub is one of the team sponsors.

The menu at Fox's offers everything from appetizers to all the expected pub specialty dishes and you are assured of generous portions. There are also all the usual Celtic beverages on tap.

Johnnie Fox's has a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere, with a real pub mixture of old and young, It's the sort of establishment you can feel comfortable dropping into after shopping or from work for a bite to eat and a pint. There's a real intimate atmosphere at Johnnie Fox's that just makes you feel at home.

Unfortunately we missed seeing owner Paul Roberts who is a busy man these days as he is kept busy running back and forth between Johnnie Fox's and his other business at the Bourbon Hotel.

Johnnie Fox's Irish Snug is located at 1033 Granville Street in Vancouver. For more information, call (604) 685-4946, or visit: www.johnniefox.ca.
