Dentry's Irish Grill Under New Ownership

VANCOUVER - Robbie Sandhu and Jack Gill took over ownership of Dentry's Irish Grill last September. The business is located in the Point Grey area of Vancouver and has always been a very popular location with the Celtic crowd.
The establishment was previously called Culpeppers and owned and operated by well-known publican, Jacquie Metzler. Phil Dentry took over ownership in 1998, and changed the name to Dentry's Irish Grill. But, the one thing that has never changed over all these years has been the regulars who sit at the same place at the bar and enjoy the same "craic," week in and week out.
I recently spoke with new owner Robbie Sandhu, who is of Indo-Canadian background and he has fitted right in with the Celtic scene and is enjoying every minute of it.
Robbie has a very friendly and outgoing personality and he also takes a regular shift as bartender, where he is enjoying the laughs and friendly banter around the bar. A huge Manchester United sports fan, Robbie is also open to Dentry's supporting soccer teams in the community.
"Our customers are great, they are really genuine people, I can't say enough good things about them," Sandhu said, "really Dentry's is still the same place but what we have added is more energy.
"We have also added more televisions and show all the pay-per-view UFC (ultimate fighting) events, which are shown once a month to a full-house here at Dentry's. But anytime one of our customers want to watch their favourite sports on our large televisions, we're happy to accommodate."
Dentry's Irish Grill features various live entertainment every Saturday night and can accommodate over 100 people for any special functions such as birthdays, anniversaries or weddings.
They also feature food and beverage specials every day. Wing Wednesdays are really popular along with their Sunday turkey dinner special. With the warmer weather finally here, their popular outdoor patio is now open. They are also open late nights.
Their full menu features everything from appetizers, soups and salads, to burgers and entrees. There are all the usual Irish pub special dishes and Celtic beverages on tap, along with weekly specials. Prices are also surprisingly reasonable.
The Celtic people love their curry and Sandhu has been asked by his customers about adding some curry dishes, so watch for that to be added to Dentry's menu soon.
